We had Taylor's birthday party this past weekend. About 20 friends and family attended the Kuk Sool Won birthday party. Everyone had a great time. At the end of the event every child got a chance to break a real board. Here are a few pictures and video clips from Taylor's birthday party.

Olivia breaking the board on her second try.

There was kicking, blocking, an obstacle course, and face painting. It was especially fun for the kids to have heir names written in Korean by PSBN Steffen on the board they broke. Taylor's birthday party was the talk of class today.

This weekend was very busy for us. We've been planning a big Sunday School fundraiser the past few weeks and we were able to pull it off with the help of many caring and giving members of the church. We cut and shredded veggies all evening Friday, woke up at 5:15am on Saturday to start rolling egg rolls and frying, then sold the egg rolls in front of Sam's Club until 4pm. It was extremely cold so I was very proud of the kids who stuck it out to the very end. We were able to make $950. We'll be sending a large portion of that to help children in Laos who are less fortunate then we are.
In addition to the long weekend, Taylor tested for her Red Stripe and passed. After Taylor's birthday on Sunday we all crashed. The girls have separate beds but often sleep together. I hope they always choose to be together in this way.

So sweet! We are so sad we had to leave early. I don't know how Roan would have shared Taylor though on her birthday. I love the video you include. I need to figure out how to do that.
Hi Kaohly (Helen Denny here)
I know exactly what you mean, it’s so difficult to get the motivation to get out there and run, especially if you are like me and find running very hard. We all have so many demands on our time it is so easy to just let training slide, there’s always something else that needs to be done and we find ourselves saying “its ok I’ll stay home and do the washing/ironing/gardening, I can always go for a run tomorrow”.
As far as kick starting your motivation into getting started goes for me the best thing was entering a race I knew I couldn’t complete! When I signed up for the 10K run I couldn’t even run 1K without stopping! But because the date of the race was coming up, Jon had put it on his Blog and I had told my friends and family I was doing it helped me stay focused on the training.
I started off small, I went out 2-3 times a week and ran a mile or two at a time. We have a loop from our house around the block which is exactly 1 mile, I used to go out with the intention of doing one loop and I would see how I felt, if I was feeling good at the end I would do another loop, if not I would call it a day. By setting myself the goal to do one loop I didn’t feel like I had failed if I only managed one loop but if I did two I felt really good and it soon became the norm for me to do the two loops.
When I got to the point where I could do 2 miles reasonably easily I started running to my dance classes, the studio is 2.5 miles from my home. I would also run to Kuk sool classes. This was a good step up for me and of course after class I would have to run home again! This was handy for me as time is an issue and obviously the further you run the more time you need. However by running to a place I was going anyway it didn’t take much more time than driving there with all the traffic.
By this point I could see I was loosing weight and my fitness had improved so much I was starting to find it easy! This was the motivation I needed to keep going and increase the distance.
If you would like to start running but lack the motivation to get started maybe you could enter a charity fun run too. Have a look round your local area and see if there is anything coming up you could enter. Start small though, pick a distance you know you will find difficult not impossible! It’s a great motivator especially when people start to sponsor you!
Good luck with your training and
Keep us posted on your progress.
